Space Alert Mission Generator 3.6
The Space Alert mission app is updated for Android 17, drops permissions it never needed, and is still free, open source and ad-free.
Space Alert Mission Generator reads out a Space Alert mission (threats, incoming data, data transfers, phase changes) so your crew can play without a soundtrack. You can play random missions you tune yourself, or any of the missions from the book.
Version 3.6 is a maintenance release:
- Updated for Android 17, with current libraries throughout
- Storage permissions it never needed are gone. Notifications, for the play/pause control, are now the only permission.
- The About screen now has the version, what’s new, and links to the source code and the issue tracker
- Custom voice packs are gone. The screen for picking one hasn’t been reachable since 3.5.0, so rather than bring it back I removed it.
It’s free and open source on GitHub, with no ads, no tracking, and no internet access. If something sounds wrong mid-mission, open an issue.
The random missions are built on Maximilian Kalus’s JSpaceAlertMissionGenerator, and a handful of people have contributed fixes and translations over the years. Thank you.
